We've learned through experience that not all demand forecasting manual overrides add value, in fact many add very little value. The challenge is how to identify them and Forecast Value Added (FVA) is a method that can identify both.  Using intelligent automation driven by machine learning we can analyze past statistical forecast overrides to detect the best periods to review candidates for value added overrides.

The impressive advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning  (ML)  over the past decade are supported by supervised deep learning (DL) algorithms, trained to perform narrow, single-domain tasks

Deep learning is a type of machine learning that trains a computer to perform human-like tasks. Instead of organizing data to run through predefined equations, deep learning sets up basic parameters about the data and trains the computer to learn on its own by recognizing patterns using many layers of processing.

Intelligent automation help demand planners to sense and synthesize vast amounts of information boosting the (FVA) process, guiding them with surgical precision to work smarter.  Demand  planners will be able to ingest and analyze vast amounts of forecast information, respond quickly to complex inquiries, and make overrides with laser precision across the entire business hierarchy.

All sound intriguing.  Why don’t you  join us at our next PDM where Charles Chase from SAS Global Retail, will help navigate these business practices and clarify how the process work.
